Opening Night. WB/S Pens lose.

The Baby Pens opened up the season at home tonight in front of a big-time crowd in Wilkes-Barre.

Brian Gibbons, an undrafted rookie out of college made a big impression right out of the gate.
B-Gibbs caused a shorthanded turnover, pushed the puck ahead, and sniped Dany Sabourin on a breakaway.
Very impressive first pro goal in his first pro game.
Long-time veteran and now new WB/S-comer Niko Dimitrakos got on the board as well when Colin McDonald fed him with a nice cross-ice pass.
The always dangerous and ancient Keith Aucoin would spoil the show, however, with a late PP goal.
Simon Despres made his pro debut, as well.
He showed some flashes, but still has a lot of work to put in before he's even considered for an NHL call-up.
3. Brian Gibbons – Huge game for this kid. Basically proved that he doesn't belong in Wheeling at any point, ever.
2. Brian Strait – Strait is NHL-ready right now, period. Big checks all night long, and always consistent with solid defense and puck moving.
1. Niko Dimitrakos - This guy hadn't played a professional North American game in 3 years until tonight.
Daddy's home.
