Updates from Practice, Looking at Upcoming Games, Etc.

With the way the NHL schedule is right now, we're forced to do posts like this.

The Pens' website has some interesting updates from today's practice.

Breaking it down:
Sidney Crosby skated today again.  It was another 15 minute skate and he reported no negative setbacks.
Mike Comrie practiced with the team for the first time since he had surgery.
Mark Letestu is now listed day-to-day.  He didn't skate.
Matt Niskanen is back on the ice.
The Pens did some "team building" drills after practice, which apparently involved them carrying each other around a lot.
Nick Johnson, Eric Tangradi and Brooks Orpik weren't at practice, but it seems like they're all skating.
Arron Asham practiced as well.

The Pens spot in the standings is definitely nice right now, but there are some huge games coming up:

The complete remaining schedule:

This break right now is truly the calm before the storm.  Things are about to get quite difficult for the Pens and how they perform over the next few games will definitely determine their season.  Coming up is back-to-back games against the Rangers and the Red Wings followed by back-to-back games against the Flyers and the Devils.  Next week is going to be stressful for just about every Pens fan.

The Pens know this.  That's why they're doing team building exercises.  That's why they're trying to see who's ready to play and who isn't.  That's why they're taking this time to analyze their situation and make improvements and adjustments where necessary.  The playoffs are just around the corner and, man, the intensity is building rapidly.

Buckle up.
