Playoff Gameday – Round One, Game Two – Flyers

Philadelphia Flyers @ Pittsburgh Penguins – 7:30 PM/ET

Flyers Lead Series 1-0

Consol Energy Center – Pittsburgh, PA

TV: ROOT, CSN-PH, NBCSN, TSN, RDS

It's only game two, so this isn't a "must win situation" by definition, but it's pretty close. Being down 0-2 in the series and heading back to Philadelphia would be brutal. We don't even want to think about that.

However, a win today would give the Pens a split at home and a chance to take momentum into Philadelphia, where Sidney Crosby reigns supreme.

What we said:

One of the best parts about the regular season was the lack of historic meltdowns. Nothing sticks out, at least in our heads, in terms of the Pens blowing a huge lead and going on to lose the game. That all went out the window in the first game of the Stanley Cup playoffs. The Penguins blew Game One in dramatic fashion after storming out to a 3-0 lead. Nothing worse than the post-game digestion of this. Don't even want to know the last time the Pens blew a 3-goal lead in a playoff game.

This is pretty much the worst way the series could've started for the Pens. For the remainder of this series, no deficit will seem too large for Philly and no lead will feel too safe for the Pens.

What they're saying:

It's been 341 days since the 2010-11 Philadelphia Flyers season ended unceremoniously in Boston. That's a really long time to chomp at the bit for some playoff hockey, but the wait finally comes to an end tonight.

And what an end. The Pittsburgh Penguins are the opponent for the third time in the last three playoff years, and despite the fact that seemingly every pundit in the world is picking the Penguins to beat the Flyers in this series, it's probably one of the closest first round matchups we've seen in a while.

Pittsburgh Penguins Notes:

The Penguins have made some changes to the power play.

Malkin's line needs need more time in the offensive zone.

The Pens were wise to give the linesman a break over his non-offside call.
