Mark Letestu Traded to Columbus

The Pens get a fourth-round pick in return.

More clearing of roster space? Not according to Bob McKenzie:

No matter what anyone says, it definitely looks like something is going on. This, combined with sending Jeffrey and MacIntyre to WBS earlier, certainly makes it seem like the Pens are clearing roster space for something… or someone.

Letestu is a talented player who overachieved last season and came back to earth this year. Unfortunately for him, he's also a center. Everyone knows that the Penguins have a lot of talented players down the middle, including that one guy who hasn't played yet this year. With that guy, Evgeni Malkin, Jordan Staal, Craig Adams, Joe Vitale, Richard Park and Dustin Jeffrey seemingly ahead of him on the Penguins' center depth chart, Letestu had to go. Rather than risk seeing him claimed on waivers, Shero shipped him to Columbus instead.

Whatever is going on, it definitely feels like it's about to get interesting… or maybe the Pens just saw an opportunity to trade Letestu and took it.
