Malkin to Have Knee Surgery Tomorrow

From the Penguins website:

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin will undergo surgery Thursday to repair a torn ACL and torn MCL in his right knee, the team announced today.

Malkin’s rehabilitation period will take six months, and he will be ready for the start of training camp in September, general manager Ray Shero said.

We all knew this was going to happen, but we still don't like hearing it.

There isn't a lot of great news out there for Penguins fans today.  We just hope the surgery is successful.

EDIT:  Guessing at what the Pens forward lines could look like tomorrow with all the injuries and Cooke's suspension.  It's not pretty.

Pascal Dupuis – Jordan Staal – Tyler Kennedy
Eric Tangradi – Dustin Jeffrey – Tim Wallace
??? - Max Talbot – Chris Conner
Mike Rupp - Craig Adams – Eric Godard

Someone will need to be called up from WBS if Kunitz can't go.  Wilkes-Blog has more on that.

Go Pens.
