Gameday 57 – Islanders

7:00 pm
Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum
Back-to-back games with a weakened line-up.  The start of a road trip.  The Nassau Coliseum.  Things would look pretty gloomy right now, except that we still have memories of Brent Johnson knocking out Rick DiPietro dancing in our heads.
Plus, if any team can rival this:
It's this:

The Islanders get set to take on the Penguins at the Coliseum tonight. The Islanders will look for redemption after they were shut out in Pittsburgh and Rick Dipietro was one punched by Brent Johnson. Tonight will be a brand new goalie Tandem from last week, joining Mikko Koskinen will be recent trade acquisition Al Montoya. With Montoya joining the Islanders today Joel Martin was sent back down to Bridgeport. General consensus is that Al Montoya will get the start for the Islanders tonight. The Isles called up Micheal Haley today from AHL Bridgeport. Haley is remember from a season ago when he jumped the board to come to the defense of Kyle Okposo after he was blindsided by Dion Phaneuf. The Islanders also placed Jeremy Colliton on IR with a rib injury.

Season series: Penguins lead 3-1
Last meeting: February 2, 2011 – Pens Won 3-0
What we said in our recap:

The last time the Pens saw Rick DiPietro, he was jumping up and down after stopping Sidney Crosby's points streak. The Pens hadn't forgotten about it. So when DiPietro threw a cheap shot at Matt Cooke, that was the impetus that Brent Johnson needed to cool DiPietro's ass down. It was the left cross of justice. Maybe one of our favorite moments in the last couple of years. And this moment is probably a good complement to our post earlier in the week talking about not watching a game if you get burnt out. But this kind of thing teaches you never to leave a game early. It was actually a perfect ending to what was an extremely physical game for the Penguins and an overall brilliant game from Brent Johnson.

Penguins notes:
Islanders notes:
The Islanders goaltending tandem tonight (Mikko Koskinen and Al Montoya) have a total of seven games of NHL experience between them.
One of them will probably look like Patrick Roy tonight.
