The New York Islanders fell to the New Jersey Devils in a Martin Luther King Jr day matinee at the Nassau Coliseum. While poor officiating did not help the Islanders case, a slow start and poor play did them in.

Season series: Tied 1-1.
Last meeting: December 29, 2010 – Islanders Won 2-1 [SO]

At least once every season, the Penguins travel to Long Island and play a game that makes you bang your head off a wall. It never fails. Nothing good happens on Long Island. Only good thing that's ever happened there was 66 scoring his 500th goal. Other than that, it sucks. A few years ago, the Pens lost a huge unbeaten streak there. And last night, Crosby's 25-game point-scoring streak was buried in the dark and gloomy arena.

Both Pens/Islanders games this season have gone more than 60 minutes. The Pens won 3-2 in overtime in October.
Penguins notes: Crosby, no Malkin again.  Malkin will miss the All-Star Game along with Crosby. Cooke will be in the line-up.  He missed the morning skate with a "family issue."
