Know Your Enemy: Lightning Hockey Blog

Just a little programming note here at LHB: I'll be taking about a week off from blogging for Christmas. It's just for a week or so, until all of the holiday craziness is over and then I'll be back to talking about the Lightning in the new year.

Last meeting with the Pens: November 12, 2010 – Pens 5-1. In our recap we said:

This was Fleury's best game of the season. No question about that. Tampa Bay didn't show up until the third, but the Pens finally got a few bounces and some timely goals.

As much as the NHL will forever push Crosby VS. Ovechkin, Crosby VS. Stamkos is a much closer, much more competitive and much more compelling race.

Back inside.  The hype for the Winter Classic is over.  HBO is gone.  Things are back to normal.  We're back to the grind.

The days of the Tampa Bay Lightning being pushovers are done.  The Lightning currently lead the Southeast Division and are tied for the Eastern Conference lead with Pittsburgh and Philly.  All three teams have 53 points, but the Flyers have played one fewer game.  The Lightning are coming off a shutout over the Capitals.  Steven Stamkos is biting at Sidney Crosby's heels for the Richard Trophy.

The last time the Penguins played the Lightning, Fleury pulled out a big win and got his groove back.  Now the focus is on the other net.  Dwayne Roloson is fresh off of Long Island and he's currently a big deal in Tampa.  The Pens need to take some of that luster off of him.  This is a big game for both teams.  The new comments system is going to get its first workout tonight.

Do It.

Go Pens.
