Carolina Hurricanes (12-19-6) @ Pittsburgh Penguins (20-11-4)

7:00 pm/et

TV: ROOT,  FS-CR

Consol Energy Center – Pittsburgh, PA

We're full and sleepy from the holidays. The Pens have won three-in-a-row as Carolina comes into town.

Season Series: 1-1-0

Last Meeting That Counted: December 3, 2011. Penguins won 3-2.

What we said in our recap:

Probably the most emotional third period in a long time. The Pens were still telling the Canes how the game would be played. Sullivan almost scored a beauty lifting that Cane's stick on the icing call.

What they're saying:

The Penguins are still without the services of Sidney Crosby, who is on the sidelines again with suspected concussion issues. Evgeni Malkin has been back on track though and leads the Pens with 40 points. Next closest is James Neal with 34. Goalie Marc-Andre Fluery has also been vital to the team's success. Tuomo Ruutu remains red hot for the Canes and has points in five straight games, (4G 2A). Andreas Nodl has points in three straight. The teams have split their two games so far this year.

Pittsburgh Penguins Notes:

No injury updates for the Pens.

Great…. a goalie who hasn't played in the NHL this year. This will turn out well… *sigh*

Do It.

Go Pens.
