Gameday 29 – Flyers

Pittsburgh Penguins (16-8-4) @ Philadelphia Flyers (16-7-3)

7:00 pm/et

TV: ROOT, NHLN-US, CSN-PH

Wells Fargo Center – Philadelphia, PA

We're not sure what is more sad: The fact that Sidney Crosby isn't playing tonight or the fact that the fans in Philadelphia will still chant "CROSBY SUCKS" whenever they get the chance.

The Flyers are 7-3-0 in their last ten and they're one point behind the Penguins for the Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference lead. They've played two fewer games than the Penguins. Claude Giroux leads the league in points and he's second in goals. He had a four point night last night in Buffalo.

Season Series: 0-0-0.

Last meeting that counted: March 29, 2011. Flyers won 5-2.

What we said in our recap:

Yes, the Pens miss Crosby. But the Flyers really miss Chris Pronger. Their defense is a mess without him. Pens had unlimited two-on-ones, and odd man breaks all game.

Know Your Enemy: Yeah, we're not linking to a Flyers blog.

Pittsburgh Penguins Notes:

Sidney Crosby showed no signs of a concussion.

No Deryk Engelland, Richard Park, Kris Letang or Zbynek Michalek tonight either.

Steve MacIntyre could play tonight and contribute seconds of ice time.

Philadelphia Flyers Notes:

Everybody loves Claude Giroux.

Chris Pronger will be out for a while.

Something about Flyers' chairman Ed Snider and Gary Bettman.

"Evgeni Malkin says 'Take that!'"

This is THE rivalry for the Pens and possibly the best one in the NHL. No matter how beaten up the Penguins are, no matter how many players are on the shelf, this is going to be a tough, competitive game. We wouldn't want anything else.

Do It.

Go Pens.
