Gameday 22 – Blues

St. Louis Blues (10-8-2) @ Pittsburgh Penguins (12-6-3)

7:00 pm/et

CONSOL Energy Center

The "OMG SIDNEY CROSBY IS BACK!!!!!!!!!!" tour continues and we're still ridiculously excited about it. It's still a bit strange to see Crosby, Malkin & Staal all centering their own lines, but we'll certainly take it.

The Blues are currently 10th in the west. If you ask us, we still think of Brett Hull when we hear the words "St. Louis Blues," but we know that's not right.

St. Louis goaltender Brian Elliot currently leads the league in GAA and Save Percentage. The team's leading scorer is Alex Steen. He has eight goals and six assists for 14 points. T.J. Oshie also has 14 points (six goals, eight assists.)

Season Series: 0-0-0.

Last meeting that counted: October 23, 2010. Blues won 1-0 [OT]

What we said in our recap:

The Pens need an entire case of Listerine to get the taste of Jaroslav Halak out of their mouths. In the Habs series last year, Halak answered the bell whenever the defense broke down in front of him. In this game, though, his defense stole the show. Halak really didn't have to make any 10-bell saves. His defense was sick. Their whole team is a pain in the ass. Then again, a bunch of the Pens' scoring chances came off Blues turnovers. Halak sucks.

What they're saying:

It had to happen sometime: the Blues were dealt their first regulation loss of the Hitchcock era last night, losing to the LA Kings 3-2. There's no time for licking wounds, though, as the Blues are right back in action with the Penguins tonight in Pittsburgh. Back-to-back games with travel in between usually offers a challenge to young teams, so Kenny and the Vets will have to ensure that the youngsters put the loss behind them fast, and focus on the challenge ahead. The Penguins are first in the Eastern Conference with a 12-6-3 record, and they just got a little tougher to beat: Oh yeah, Sid is back boys and girls…

Pittsburgh Penguins Notes:

Sidney Crosby.

Sidney Crosby.

Sidney Crosby. Someone should really write about Sidney Crosby.

St. Louis Blues Notes:

The Blues played last night. They lost 3-2 to the Kings.

Chris Stewart is back in the St. Louis line-up.
