Listen to the game at [WXDX]

If you have any questions for Mike Lange, Phil Bourque or Bob Gove join the Penguins Radio Network Facebook page.
You can submit questions via the discussion tab for the Crash the Net segments or Penguins Hotline after the game.

It's the the beginning of a five game homestand for the Penguins.
They went 4-0 on their recent road trip and are now returning home.

It's also the season debut of the blue third jerseys and another return home for Ryan Malone.
"The Tampa Bay Lightning, which arrived to Pittsburgh late Friday and held a dinner-time practice at Mellon Arena, conducted an optional morning skate Saturday. One of the players opting not to skate was former Penguin Ryan Malone, who instead caught up with some old teammates."

-- The Penguins official site
"Pittsburgh South" is no more as Malone is the only former Pen playing with the Lightning now.

Is this song still funny?

The Pens lines are the same as usual:

Chris Kunitz - Sidney Crosby - Bill Guerin
Pascal Dupuis - Evgeni Malkin - Ruslan Fedotenko
Matt Cooke - Jordan Staal - Tyler Kennedy
Mike Rupp - Craig Adams - Eric Godard

Brooks Orpik - Sergei Gonchar
Mark Eaton - Kris Letang
Jay McKee - Alex Goligoski

Marc-Andre Fleury

Here's our best guess at Tampa Bay's lines:

Alex Tanguay - Vincent Lecavalier - Steve Downie
Ryan Malone - Steven Stamkos - Martin St. Louis
James Wright - Jeff Halpern - Drew Miller
Todd Fedoruk - Zenon Konopka - Stephane Veilleux

Mattias Ohlund - Victor Hedman
Paul Ranger - Andrej Meszaros
Matt Walker - Lukas Krajicek

Antero Niittymaki

It's a shame Talbot isn't playing against Niittymaki tonight:

Steven Stamkos has seven points in six games this year.
Rookie Victor Hedman has four.

Ryan Malone has six goals, no assists.

Do It.

Go Pens.

@ dps that's actually not true research has shown that a team wearing red colors is more likly to win a match then a team wearing blue (for example)

Tocchet has been sending-out the Konopka/Downie/Fedoruk line in crucial situations, often after TB scores goals, where they've been drawing lotsa penalties thru their hard-work, and winning lotsa draws, too:
Veilleux has been playing with VL4 and Tanguay

The Bolts have given-up 3 short-handed goals the last 2 games, and many more opportunities for shorties:
Staal may get his chances tonight

the TB power-play has been effective, w/ VL4 at one point, Hedman or Foster at the other, St. Louis along the Right wing half-boards, and Malone at the goalie's Left shoulder, with Stamkos triggering shots from the slot:
Stamkos' play has improved tremendously since Mullet-Head went back to TV

Niittymaki played well in both Lightning wins this year.

the Lightning had 3 fights Thursday against Ottawa, as the game turned chippy late

LET'S GO PENS!!!!!

Nut up or shut up

This is the only thing that drives me nuts about an otherwise awesome movie..."nut up" is used a lot in military circles and it has a totally different meaning. To "nut up" is also known as "seize up", and "vapor lock" along with many other variants. It means to freeze up or just generally get so flustered in a given situation that failure results...

Case in point: Say you're in a hypothetical country that is hypothetically hostile and full of little(hypothet ically) brown people...say that(hypothetic ally) you and your small tactical unit of highly trained hypothetical Rangers are to fast rope into an area where a hypothetical war chief lives to snatch him. You hit the hypothetical LZ and start taking hypothetical small arms fire and the first guy out of the chopper onto the fast rope hypothetically misses the rope, falling to the hypothetical ground...see? He "nutted up"...totally different meaning.

Oh, and I hear there may be some c-bloggers who need to adhere to Rule #1...just sayin

Go Pens

Tallahassee. Yesss. And Rage, that's only one meaning. And I've never heard of 'nut up' being used in that situation. I've always heard it used/used it as a meaning to show some balls. It goes hand in hand with 'man up'.

Also, I'm pretty sure the Malone song will never get old for me.

It continues to be cold in the D -- Deadwings lost in a shootout to the Avs. On the other hand, Caps won in a shootout with the Great Ape scoring. He had two other goals in the game and so the clownshoes "Red Rockers" threw hats on the ice for a hat trick. Wonder if someone should tell them that shootout goals aren't credited as such?

Yeah not sure what that was about...not cool to do that during a shootout. Varlamov did let in a softie that tied it up in the 2nd but stuffed 3 breakaways in regulation and nothing got by him in the shootout. I'll take it. Should have put this game away early and we were very loose on a few plays that resulted in those breakaways.

Avs are looking like that team that has all the young stars and makes some noise to the All Star break, but who knows if it'll last all season. Anderson looks to be an extremely shrewd signing though to date.

I gotta agree with fleuryous.

If Eaton actually is their "worst D-man" (which is, of course, debatable) the Pens are truly blessed. Really the way this team has been playing it's hard to see any weaknesses!

Plus, that puck that he almost cleared to the corner was flying through the air and he had to try and bat at it in the direction it was already traveling--a far more difficult task than trying to hit one coming toward you.

So many reasons we're lucky to be Pens fans!!!

Farm report:

Baby Pens go to a shootout with Syracuse and win, 4-3. John Curry shut down all four shooters he faced in the shootout, while the Pens scored two in three chances to win.

Goals tonight by Tim Wallace (TIMMAH!) and Ryan Bayda twice. Aaron Boogaard went back to what he does best, and that's fight...engaging Jon Mirasty in a lively dust-up.

With five games played, the Pens find themselves 3-2 and tied for third place in the AHL's East Division with Binghamton (six points each); the Senators have played six games thus far. Albany and Hershey currently tie for the division lead at eight points each. Hershey has played one more game than WBS, while Albany has played five games.

Next up for the Pens is the second of 12 games with Hershey next Friday night, followed by a trip up to Bridgeport next Saturday.

Capitals fans are absolutely the most retarded people in existence. Ovechkin scored two goals in regulation and then on his score in the shootout, the ice was showered with hats.
