On Friday [PUCK DADDY] posted at least his 70th pic of a fan peeing on Crosby.

Yes, another fan peeing on a Crosby card. That card above is from some card photoshop expo.
Now, we've had it out with Greg before. Puck Daddy is a beast, and really one of the only blogs we read. So it is not personal. And to be fair, the pic came from some LA Kings blog no one will ever read.

But this is business.

You'll ask the following.

Why do you care so much?

Because it's old, but yet still garners attention.

Why do you still get mad about people bashing Crosby.

Because we want to.

Didn't you post pics of someone peeing on A.O and Washington Caps towel?

Yes, yes we did. But we can do whatever we want.

Fact of the matter. Holding your shaft, and then proceeding to pee on a pic of a man....yea as homoerotic as it gets.

So it is time to serve internet justice the only way we know how.

A photoshop expo.

It is time for Bing to have his revenge.

Okay, so no penis is to be shown. Can we show penile shadow? Are there any limits/lines with where the urine stream can be going? Are we looking for simple disrespect or sheer gross-out?

Now that Akus mentions it, I don't know that I've ever seen Edmonton fans peeing on photoshopped images of Dion Phaneuf.

Hell, I'm not even sure I've seen reader-submitted photos of Sean Avery pictures in the Prudential Center urinals, perhaps because that would require there to actually be fans in The Rock to use said urinals.

I've never seen nor heard of any other player being peed on. Yeah, sure, some could make the case that having this maligned figure in the NHL is good for business (like a heel in wrestling), but I can't believe the NHL doesn't put a stop to some of this nonsense. Sure, fans can do what fans will, but the NHL should put the kibosh on team-sponsored shenanigans. But Sid has 35 pounds of urethral blockage for all of them:

Might be a good idea to get the Wachovia center, the Flyers, and Philly fans out of the way right off the top since Sid has been peeing on them since 2005.

Ovechkin's been peed on. At least in urinals at hockey arenas (I think it was MSG). Probably at least a few times outside of hockey arenas as well, though I'm not one to start rumors.

This one is going to be interesting, haha.

Let's see, injury front the Rangers edition. In one game, the Flames took out Brandon Dubinsky for about 6 weeks with a broken hand and Drury with a concussion from a headshot.

Manny Legace is to replace Cam Ward for the time being.

I'm not very good at this photoshop stuff, but here goes...

Like I said, that's the best thing I could come up with over the course of a lunch hour. At first glance, it may not look like much.

Give it a minute to really translate and I'm sure you'll see exactly what I see - Sidney Crosby peeing on the rest of the NHL, all while drinking not the customary bubbly, but rather a carefully-blended concoction of tears and the blood from the hearts of Flyers and Capitals fans, which he has so many times ripped from their collective bodies.

I was watching the DET-TOR game as a warmup to the Pens game and saw the same thing. At first glance, I thought knee, which just about every ligament in there shredded. Once they showed the replay, you could tell it was his leg. Very cringe-inducing as hockey injuries like that go.

I figured he broke his leg and shredded his knee. I suffered a bad knee injury a few months ago and find that I now immediately suspect knee injury with just about everything. Hell, next time Johan Franzen grabs his jaw I'll suspect a knee injury.

Judging by his performance on the Satellite Hot Stove during Hockey Night In Canada, I'm sure Milbury's response will be words like "Filppula" and "soft Euro" interspersed between unintelligible grunts.

The main talking point on the Hot Stove was the NHL's steps to address injuries to the head, both from hits and the result of player's heads striking the ice if their helmet came off during a fight.

Ron MacLean kind of segued into the discussion by adding that Mike Liambas's hit on Ben Fanelli in the OHL Kitchener-Erie game just a week before cast an even larger spotlight on the issue of player safety.

(For those who didn't see the hit, there's a Youtube clip of it from the Rangers broadcast at full speed and full audio. The sound of Fanelli hitting the boards is something you might not forget anytime soon. I'd link it but firewalls hate me.)

Not 30 seconds after MacLean mentions the Fanelli hit, the Richard-Booth hit, etc., Milbury spouts off about how "if players don't want to get hurt, they shouldn't play the game." I swear, he could've taken a crap on the desk and he wouldn't have gotten a dirtier look from MacLean and Lebrun.

I love hitting and physical play as much as any hockey fan and I don't want the game to be turned into the type of hockey that you see at the All-Star Game. It's just hysterical to see Milbury's complete inability to put aside his neanderthal mentality and completely fail to recognize that wanting to address this kind of stuff and taking the physical play out of the game entirely are two very separate and different things.

Ugh, like McKee's near miss the other night. Thinking about it makes me ill.

With regards to Mike Milbury, this is a man who once went into the stands and beat a spectator over the head with his own footwear, so anything he says about hits to the head should be taken with a grain of salt.

#32 PensFan2166 2009-11-09 15:54
@Stoosh - I agree completely. I saw the bit on HNIC (Wings v Leafs game) where they discussed player safety and one of the guys at the table (I think it was either Shoalts or Lebrun) said to Milbury, "once again, you're saying the onus is on the victim if he wants to remain safe." Milbury whole-heartedly agreed with that statement.

There's nothing wrong with good, physical play. But what Mike Milbury (and some others) fail to realize is that players no longer want to put their livelihood and well-being at risk so that Milbury can enjoy the sadistic pleasures of watching guys get taken off the ice on stretchers (or tarps in the KHL).

#33 Raybin 2009-11-09 15:56

He has this mentality, but called the gentle, dignified Bob Johnson "The Professor of Goonism"

Milbury should be used as a test subject to see if people can survive on the surface of the Sun.

#34 Little Artie 2009-11-09 15:56
@stoosh

Granted he was talking more about hits like Liambas's than some of the head shots, but I thought Cherry was right on the money with some of his points. Let the other defenseman interfere with the forwards to slow them down a little, let the goalie play the puck, move to no touch icing. Finally, like Hull and Yzerman said, you have to know who else is on the ice with you and adjust accordingly.

I think it's going to be harder for the NHL to deal with hits to the head, because the line between hitting someone clean when they have their head down and targeting somebody's head is blurry to begin with. Add to that the NHL's policy of tailoring the punishment to the player's star power rather than the offense and any kind of a consistent policy is going to be difficult to reach.

#35 Raybin 2009-11-09 15:58
The ECHL has no touch icing and while I still don't like it, it hasn't really bothered me when I've seen it at Nailers games.

To take it a step further, people who don't want to be mugged shouldn't walk down the street after dark and women who don't want to be raped shouldn't ever be alone with a man. Right on, Milbury! Blame the victim!

There's being reasonably vigilant and aware of your surroundings and there are situations that are just out of the control of the average person. I can look both ways before crossing the street, but if someone sees me in the crosswalk and thinks that gunning the engine in order to mow me down sounds like fun there's not a hell of a lot I can do about it. I'm in a vulnerable position and the object coming toward me is moving too fast for me to get out of the way. A lot of these hits are the same kind of thing - yes, sometimes the players have their heads down and yes, that's a very very bad idea - but most of the time the hitters are capable of letting up if they see that they're clearly about to destroy somebody's head. Some of them are taking four or five strides to get to the target. In most cases you'd think that would be plenty of time to ease up.

Mike Milbury is the genius who did the following:
- Traded Roberto Luongo & Olli Jokinen for Mark Parrish & Oleg Kvasha
- Traded Todd Bertuzzi, Bryan McCabe & 3rd round pick (Jarkko Ruutu) for Trevor Linden
- Traded Zdeno Chara, Bill Muckalt & 1st round pick (Jason Spezza) for Alexei Yashin
- Climbed into the stands (as a player) and beat a man with his own shoe - and had this to say about it: "It's unbelievable that after more than 30 years in the game, pummeling a guy with his loafer will be my legacy. But I guess it's better than having no legacy at all."
- Said this to Pierre Lebrun on HNIC on Saturday night: "People die every day. If you don't want to get hurt, don't play the game."
- Also said on HNIC broadcast Saturday night: "We've looked at those all the time...and I think guys like Colin Campbell know when you cross the line — and he punishes people appropriately."

Bottom line - he's an idiot.

Don't know if it was mentioned earlier, but Glencross got 3 games for the hit on Drury. I hadn't seen the hit before so I watched it a few times on Youtube. Once again, the league's justice leaves me scratching my head. Granted Drury didn't have the puck, and maybe the punishment was based solely on that, but even if he did, the result would have been the same. Glencross glides in and its hard to tell where he made contact but it looks like he hit Drury in the shoulder first. I'm not defending Glencross, but when you compare it to some of the other big hits that have gone unpunished this season, it just leaves you wondering.

#39 Elmo 2009-11-09 17:17
Shouldn't this be relatively easy to fix if you are the NHL? Any hit that is remotely questionable, punish it. Make a specific rule, declare a crackdown and enforce it. Better that players lose games early in the season than nearer to the playoffs. As it is, the players have no real way to know what is and what isn't an acceptable hit and continue to push it to see what they can get away with. And if you are a top tier player, there is every reason to believe that you can away with just about anything. I have to think that the NHL wants it this way. And where is the players' union on this? Does the NHLPA still exist? Shouldn't they be coming out to protect the players if the NHL isn't going to bother?

PD turned me off with his video that was edited to make Pens fans look like idiots (I know, trolls, we don't need the help...derr herr). IIRC a cblogger was one of the people interviewed and he confirmed that his footage was completely edited to make it look like he had no idea what he was talking about. I don't remember who it was, though. I think that he contacted Greg about it and never got a satisfactory reply.

I stick to tPB, the Pens official site, Puck Huffers, Empty Netters, and TSN. Occasionally I'll read a blog of whichever team the Pens happen to be playing that day if the writers of the blog in question haven't proven to be total retards. The other night I perused Fear the Fin. When the Pens are playing the Flyers, Caps, Wings or Rags I don't bother because I know what I'm going to see - the same old tired "Rosby" baby diver jokes.

It's sad when Don Cherry appears to be the sane one on HNIC ... good job, Milbury.

These blindside hits aren't doing anyone good. The hits like Toews and Hedman received are completely legal (Hedman even said the hit he received from Neil was a clean hit and he should have kept his head up), but to not protect the players from hits that they have no way of seeing is ridiculous. This is not making the League soff, there is a difference between soff and safe. There is a difference between getting Lindros-ed and getting hit like Booth did. I love hard-hitting hockey, I love hipchecks, but there comes a time when the NHL needs to stop worrying about big names or think they are changing the League into something that turns from its base. If no action is taken to protect the players and bring about restrictions, a lot of problems will arise. What happens when one huge ticket seller takes out another? What do you do there? Ovechkin and Richards do not stray from hitting, and I respect that aspect of their game (obviously when it's clean), but what if one takes out the other? How do you penalize that when you treat other players so differently already? Lay down the law properly. Also, for the players getting hit by some of these, don't be a jackass and turn your back to the hit.

I watched the intermission and while the new helmets are a good idea in theory, I don't see many players using those pull-away helmets so when they fight they have a helmet that was used in the 1970's for sparring in martial arts.

Party of Ruutu, FromtheRink.com is always good. I read PD, but avoid the comment section for my own health. TSN and CBC are always good for League-wide information.

@IHK - That he prefaced his statement that players shouldn't play if they want to avoid injury by saying "people die every day," is both shocking and a testament to how recklessly stupid Mike Milbury really is. Don Cherry wouldn't even say something that patently retarded.

And while I think the pull-away helmet thing is stupid (that lower helmet makes players look like they're retarded kids with epilepsy), I think a helmet with a pull-away visor would be a winner - that's another concept being worked on. Off the top of my head, I can think of 2 captains who'd wear that in a heartbeat - Crosby and Iginla.

Of course not. Someone from Canada might die (not including the Quebecois, of course, who might as well be from Europe).

The NHL needs to get a consistent discipline program for everything before they worry about hits to the head. Players do need to be aware of their surroundings but players can't be allowed to head hunt (see alex the great or "Leadership"). In addition now the league would overreact to a player enforcing the informal players conduct rules of years past but wouldn't punish someone without a past. But a catch22 is that they won't put stars in that category because they won't give them the first offense.

How can anyone take Milbury seriously talking about player conduct when he goes into the stands? Who had the balls to suggest him for tv?

Ovechkin's been peed on. At least in urinals at hockey arenas (I think it was MSG). Probably at least a few times outside of hockey arenas as well, though I'm not one to start rumors.

I am one to start (hilariously false) rumors.

Ovechkin has the look of a guy who pays hookers to watch him eat their poo.

Ovechkin likes Joe Beninati to pee on him whilst he sits upon a throne of nude boys.

Ovechkin was a fan of Goatse.cx and Two Girls One Cup.

Nice one.

I was thinking about something along the lines of Sid on top of a waterfall, with some of the Wings Octopus' arms emerging from the splashing water below.

It would be missing that "golden" tone, though.

But i can't photoshop to save my life, so i am unable to make anything worthwhile out of it.

A contusion is a bruise, right?

Basically, yeah...a contusion is a fancy name for a bruise.

And I was preaching the "don't get hurt" message to the Penguins in particular. I didn't really mean that for the rest of the league. Maybe I should stop preaching...

Douche really doesn't cut it for Ovie. I was thinking along the lines of "cock measle".

I too hope that "Caps fans" see this. I'd love to hear/read what they have to say about it. What with Ovie's recent "joking" that he was going to be out 4-5 weeks while on the record with the well-respected Dmitry Chesnokov, I'd like to think some of those who "rock the red" would start to question how really "great" #8 actually is....But, then I remember the type of "fan" the Caps tend to attract (DavetheCapsFan excepted) and realize most of them will maintain their delusions of grandeur.

edit: sorry I can't remember which c-blogger to credit with the term "cock measle" :)

#77 I Have Kasparaitis 2009-11-09 23:55
Rockhopper, Ovechkin was joking about the length of him being out, and it was quite obvious. I'll diss him for his behavior, but that isn't a really good reason. He gives a lot of interviews like that ... not smart by any stretch of the imagination but that should have been addressed by an agent or the team before the interview. Btw, has he hired himself a new agent since contract talk? I think we take for granted that Sid has a brain that he uses.

Also, this call to the NHLPA is another reason why he cannot be captain of his team. So many issues are going down and the concern is about chump change to his current salary that he will no doubt receive soon enough? Come on, being a big name in the League, you must take the responsibility that comes with the position. I'm not saying be a Sid clone, but addressing what's going on in the League whether or not your opinion is mainstream would be ideal.

Next you'll inform me that Ryan Malone leads the League in GWGs with 4 and that Glencross got suspended 3 games for a hit that we just have to see on Drury. *laughs*

@IHK

Did you see video or hear audio of this? My understanding from what I've read is that his joke wasn't obvious to Chesnokov who reported it as news which then prompted the Caps to issue a statement disputing Chesnokov's report. As a former journalist myself, I have to say that Ovechkin's "joke" was totally uncool and absolutely unprofessional. That kind of shit can really fuck with a reporter's career.*

*And, if you want to debate my point about Chesnokov being a real reporter/journalist since he frequently has posts on Puck Daddy, we'll have to get into it another night. I need some sleep! :)

I read the interview on Puck Daddy, and knowing it came from Ovechkin, I automatically knew that giving a timetable like that was not true. No inflection in writing but it was pretty obvious. I like Chesnokov's work on PD, but it is Ovechkin we are talking about ... unprofessional is pretty obvious after some of his on-ice antics.

And with regards to all the Ovechkin rigamarole, opinions of him are already beginning to sway - be it ever so slightly. I know a couple of real Caps fans (guys who know who Rod Langway, Don Beaupre, Dale Hunter, and Yvon Labre are) and they're sick of Ovechkin - one of them even called him a "piece of shit human." Perhaps if the rest of the rockers of red wise up and learn hockey they'll realize that Ovechkin has the sort of attitude which is frowned upon by most hockey players & coaches.

There are days when I'm glad Pittsburgh lost the draft lottery - every single day.

Put James Harrison on the first D pairing with Brooks Orpik. The opposition will not even enter our zone. Jesus, he was scary tonight.

And Ryan Clark may be a bigger Steelers fan than I am. What a dude.

Orton Hears a Boo.

Go Pens.

And all the best to Mr. Morehouse. I hope he's alright.
