You called Armstrong an idiot. Prepare for the onslaught - lots of folks defend him like their kid's virginity.

Flyers Thursday. My mind is already full of win.

I think most people who are Army fans are pretty realistic about what would or would not be appropriate to get him back, and where he should play if he were ever to be resigned. Don't be douches, gentlemen. ;)
It was nice meeting up with the cblog Hall of Fame last night! The Pens' win streak when Fleuryous and I meet up is still intact. Hooray for us!
Also, I can't wait until the day "Chris Bourque" is on the list of censored words.

This town has some sort of mass man crush on Colby Armstrong. . .its sad really. We trade away a world class athlete like JJ (because, all "dying alive" comments aside, the pens CHOSE not to pay him market value any longer) who helped bring two Stanley Cups to this town, and he's booed whenever he touches the puck. But whenever The Thrashers arrive in town, everyone's lining up to stroke a guy whose greatest contribution to this organization was allowing the Pens to land Pascal Dupuis.
I can't wait to see what the reaction is when Talbot gets traded in a few months.

I don't care that the Thrashers suck. All that matters to me is that we won!
Has anyone noticed that Malkin seems to be a little off and I don't mean in a slump either, it almost seems like he's recently had a concussion or something. He's been doing a lot of things that just don't seem to be like him.

And did somebody just job Fleuryous and Eileen? Really? I guess having fun at the game must be illegal now.

I don't know, I think it's kind of sad that people care so much about who other people are fans of. JMO.

I was in F17 with these 2 and I wanted to end my life after the first period. Not sure how I survived the game.

I dunno, they got that defenseman now who's going to stop Sid & Geno. I hear they traded for him especially for that reason.

Still, the topic is more relevant than most of the trash that some people post in here on a daily basis. Some Pittsburghers have this weird fascination with nobodys, who allegedly are "good guys in the locker room" (as opposed to Gilbert Arenas, apparently, who commits felonies with firearms in his locker room)
Other "people" seem to have some some sort of abandonment issues. . .as demonstrated by their screen name. JMO.

I love army too
It was solidified for me when watching Chasing the Dream (if you haven't seen it you are SOFF)
I met him 2 years ago during the Finals @ the Steelhead
He is funny as hell but he isn't a pen anymore
The Penguin on the front is more important than the name on the back

The Pens were not out played in the first period. Out of the 16 shots they gave up 12 or 13 of them were low probability shots from the blueline or along the boards, and Johnson was seeing them all the way in. Caputi looked like he belonged in the show, lets hope it was not just first game excitement.

@jakhammer - What I've been hearing is that Chicago is hoping to move some salary back in exchange for Kovalchuk (the names of Sharp, Campbell & Barker have come up). As much as people say the Blackhawks are built for the future with all that young talent, the reality of it is that they are in "win now" mode.
@armyblog - I just made a sarcastic crack about the polarized views on Armstrong in C-blog. I wasn't expecting it to get any dander up. Save me, Jebus!

I hope he gets traded to the Flyers. . . .then maybe a few Colby fans will kill themselves.

I agree with you to a point. The team is of the utmost importance. But what's the point in having a favorite player if you're just going to forget about them the minute the leave your team (unless of course they piss you off the way leave the team or something like that).

And nobody would really be stupid enough to take on Campbell's contract, would they?

Kovalchuk would make Chicago really (more) dangerous, especially if they add him at the trade deadline. But they'd be giving up a ton in return. At least with the Hossa deal, Shero didn't give up too much, or any key parts of the team. As much as I loved Army, Sharp is a better player and way more important to the Hawks. And nobody would really be stupid enough to take on Campbell's contract, would they? The Hawks can't pay the salaries they have lined up for next year (already at $61 mil., and they need to fill another 4-5 roster spots). So they have to find a way to move multi-million dollar players. Why not do it when you've got your best shot at a Cup? Obviously Campbell would be the best guy to move for them, given the cap constraints and how much the guy makes. Not only that, Atlanta has plenty of cap space. But in order to take on that huge contract, the Hawks are going to need to give up something valuable. Versteeg (and maybe Skille) might be that extra chip, and in return, the Thrashers may throw in another pending UFA like Army or Afinogenov.

@Kovalchukblog - A team I wouldn't be surprised to see make a move for Kovalchuk is the LA Kings. As I understand it, they have some cap space, a stable of young (cheap) talent and they need somebody to help carry the load with Kopitar. I like Frolov, but he is streakier than your mom's underwear and the rumors that they're unhappy with Frolov have persisted for like 4 years now. If the Kings are in a decent playoff position, I'd think they'd be another team to enter the Kovalchuk derby and they may be more likely to land him than most other teams who covet him.

My favorite player is anyone that helps us win
I understand I have had some bizarre man crushes on players in the past (Eric Cairns Laraque Biznasty)and I still do to a certain extent but if they aren't here anymore then f them
I don't wish them harm or for their career to go down the shitter only when they play us
But the people that want to trade the Koon for army not gonna happen
I remember last season people wanted to trade Staal for army
Seriously ?????
Anyways here's to hoping that the Pens continue to embarrass Darien Hatcher I mean Chris Pronger Thursday

What would happen if we traded Max Talbot for Army? C-Blog might implode.
The sad thing is, despite Talbot's unquestioned legendary status, it might be an upgrade, the way things are looking.
How bad do you want it, Colby fans? Would you make that trade?

Quoting SK360:I was in F17 with these 2 and I wanted to end my life after the first period. Not sure how I survived the game.
Soff. wooooooooooooo.
Awesome game. Go Pens.
EDIT: In all serious, we WERE really obnoxious, and I realize that...but our section was quieter than a library. And it was Eileen's 21st...AND it was a Pens game, NOT a library....and I'm obnoxious. And Beej.
Talbot is not on my approved list of players to trade for Army. Since, you know, Ray Shero realized he has to consult me before he does anything.

Not that it'll ever happen because I'm sure they'll find takers for anybody they try to move (even a sucker who'll take Campbell) but what would happen if they were over the salary cap and just couldn't shed the salary necessary to get under it? Would they have to start waiving people? I wonder if that's ever happened before. Not that I recall offhand, but I don't pay a lot of attention to the cap unless it involves the Pens.

We could trade the Koon for Colby...theat would probably make at least half of C-blog happy, one way or another. Oh wait, he's hurt.

@DA - I am not sure what all happens when a team goes over the cap - I think surrendering draft picks and huge fines are among the penalties - but check around for news on the Calgary Flames last season. Remember when they were icing 16-man rosters for a week or two last season? It was because they were too close to the cap and couldn't bring any players up without going over the cap, and since none of their injured players were injured seriously enough to be put on IR (i.e. - wouldn't be out of the lineup for at least 2-3 weeks), they were forced to shorten their bench.

Thanks for the insight from all. I would hate to see Ilya go to the Hawks given their stature already there. He would would make them scary good.
@pensfan - even if its just speculation, I would much rather LA pick him, as I do believe they have some cap room. Not to say LA doesn't have talent, but they lack the playoff experience and Kovalchuk doesn't bring much of that with him.

Thing is that LA would probably want to sign him long term. That complicates matters. I read somewhere that Waddell doesn't want to make an extension part of the deal. I assume that to mean he doesn't want to make the trade contingent on the destination team extending his contract. He just wants to trade him as is and be done with it. I would venture to guess that LA wouldn't want to pull the trigger on a deal unless it was contingent on him signing to term.

I wouldn't make the trade of Max for Armstrong - you'd be making a trade of equivalent skill sets while taking on double the salary. Bad move in general.
The Hockey News had an article a couple weeks ago going through each team in the NHL and listing the 1 or 2 players who are their best trade bait. THN listed Max Talbot as the Pens best (of the most likely) trade candidates and speculated there could be a fair amount of interest in him.

Ali from the Chris Bourque photo-journal isn't the rootin'-est, tootin'-est, mostest fightin'-est bitch from the Caps v Pens playoff series, is she? I recall that Ali making mention of being diminutive in stature, so I would assume not - but figured I'd ask.

If we don't start stalking someone who was at the game, we can't recreate last year's magic. I nominate Fleuryous :P

haha... I am *NOT* the Ali from the Caps vs. Pens series thing.
Just thought I could be the one that clears that up for you.

At the risk of being killed, I'm not a huge Malkin fan to begin with just because of certain things he tends to do. But yes, he does seem off. Even the things that he tends to do that I don't like... it's just been worse and on a much bigger scale.

That whole area is full of dicktouchers. My dad and I had to sit next to that guy and his wife. My dad isn't very into sports, but I took him since I'm moving and he's never been to a game there. Anyhow, after every goal, the guy's wife would walk up and down the aisle and high five everyone. The guy also said we should send Malkin back to Russia, and that he is worthless as a player.

What's up with the constant "Wooooo-ing?"

Sorry to be annoying and ask again... but does anyone know for sure if Orpik will wear #44 for the Olympics?

And as far as players I like or whatever, it's nobody else's fucking business who my favorite players are or whose jersey I wear. If Malkin isn't your favorite player, it's your prerogative. Unless you start advocating retarded trade proposals or sending him to WBS, I'm not sure why anyone would care.

I don't know if anybody mentioned this already or not, but David Booth resumed skating up in Michigan yesterday. I saw it on the Hockey News on the Metro home from work yesterday.

lawl. We all know that Malkin is being traded to the Kings (e5)

Quoting hartnn:Sorry to be annoying and ask again... but does anyone know for sure if Orpik will wear #44 for the Olympics?
I think it's assumed but not confirmed yet. AFAIK he won't be competing with anybody else for the number, so it's probably pretty likely.

Thanks! Guess I'll cross my fingers and hope he keeps the number

What are the consequences if he doesn't?

Completely agree. That got annoying REAL fast. Like you said, I'm there to watch a hockey game...and one of the loud WOOO'ers was directly behind me, piercing my ears seriously every 10 seconds while I'm trying to enjoy the game. This is promoted down in Carolina. I was down there for ECF Game 4 and every goal they put Rick Flair on the Jumbotron and everyone in the place goes WOOOOOOO!

No pic of the kid throwing up the shocker next to the penalty box last night? This place is slipping...

Big Problem with Crosby as MVP. He is having a great year but come on. They r the cup champs he is the captain and as captain he needs to take some heat for letting his team lose 5 in a row! no Defending Stanley cup champion team should ever lose 5 in a row with the roster the Pens have. Crosby is not the MVP. Miller is the MVP as of right now! how about Parise from NJ? just cuz his stats r not as high as usual look at where the Devils r at in the standings with far less talent than PIT! Crosby MVP is a joke! you cant be the MVP of the league when your team losses 5 in a row and u are wearing the C

Hahaha I go there just to giggle at the comments and try to piss people off. A lot of Caps fans on those boards (go figure eh?). Someone should tell takedown520 that he can't talk about hockey until he can spell. No team ever losses 5 in a row. Joke.

His argument falters when he offers up Parise as a nominee.....
he's doing well this year but aren't the Devils doing well cause it's the Marty show this year, not cause Parise has been some kind of offensive powerhouse?

Re: USA Jerseys
Orpik is uncontested for #44 if you base it off numbers players have worn. More than likely its a safe pick.
However, we've talked about it before and the safest bet is to order a blank and have it done after the team starts to practice. There are about 20 games in between now and the Olympics, and anything is possible.
Hope this helps.

When will a Caputi jersey be available? I think his calling up will be permanent.. and I want to be one of the first to rock it.. I know, I'm vain

Another note: geno seemed to really get into it when the crowd started doing the "geno" chant. Started doing it right before the Caputi goal.

The Army fans? I saw too many, and most of them were morbidly obese, middle-aged women. Some extremely fat bitch (who was wearing an Armstrong Thrashers shersey backwards so Armstrong was on the front) kept banging on the glass everytime he passed her. The one time he stopped and she started screaming at him and he gave her this look like "That's nice you fucking crazy cow."

Give the GM, who has been more than fair to you and your client, a list of teams you would be willing to go to. Regarding the fan-chanting-WHOO discussion. I'm going to be forever in support of it, because the WHOO chant is a regular feature of game nights in WBS. I have no problem with maybe doing it ONCE after a goal is announced. But hearing it over and over again DURING play until the arena sounds like a bunch of frigging sirens are going off does not make for an enjoyable experience.

Speaking of retards, the Flyers are in extra-tard mode tonight against the Leafs. Hartnell picked a fight with Jeff Finger (of the nine penalty minutes on the season). Side show Carcillo gets dropped by Mayers and jags it up for the crowd on the way to the box. Idiots... Tomorrow night they'll be well behaved children, after they get a spanking by the Pens. Godz, I hate that franchise...

Quoting PensFan2166:You could always tell people that's the number he had the first time he went to the Olympics and see if they pick up on it.
I could... but with the new logo there's no passing it off as an old one. Of course I'll probably be wearing it around my living room more than anything else and there aren't too many critics there!

I'm telling you, the fucking human race needs a god damned good jerseying. I'm thinking the same thing about the fucking Pens fan-base too.

Say what you will, but that caveman fucking scored a pretty goal. These guys are playing hockey again. You ladies better tighten up your garters, because if the Pens don't pick it up, it's gonna get uuuuuugly
Go Pens

[That's just your hangover(binge drinking) talking now, dear.
woooooooooooooo (see what I did there?)
Go Banhammer

So true...they crushed the Leafs tonight. They've been sucking the joint up and they are pissed about it. If the Pens play like they are entitled to beat the Flyers, they are going to get killed tomorrow...
