Today was the last day of trading before the Olympic roster freeze and a few things went down.
Among them:
The Sharks traded Jody Shelley to the Rangers for a conditional fifth or sixth round pick.
Shelley will not play tonight against the Pens.
The Blackhawks traded Cam Barker to the Wild for Kim Johnsson and Nick Leddy.
This frees up some cap space in Chicago.
Jaime Lundmark and Brad May were also placed on waivers by Calgary and Detroit respectively.

The owners of the Florida Panthers posted this on their website today:

“GM Randy Sexton has begun the process of reshaping this team in order to achieve our goals and objectives. This is a multi-step process, beginning now, ahead of the trading deadline, and continuing through the draft, free agency and training camp – so we ask that you assess our success only once this process has run its course.

Unfortunately, these changes will not always be easy for our fans and supporters to accept or understand. These changes also may not be easy for our coaches, players and staff. But they are necessary. No small changes or quick fixes will do. But please note that these changes are part of an overall plan to make the best use of our current assets and set this franchise up to achieve the success we want as quickly as possible, and to maintain it.”

Let the gutting begin!
A few people have emailed us to let us know that Mike Rupp has been doing the LeBron James baby powder thing during warm-ups.
We’d really like to see this.
If anyone can take video of it and send it to us, that would be awesome.
Also, your requests for Storeblog items have been noted and the store will be updated this weekend.

Do it.

Go Pens.
