NHL: Los Angeles Kings at Pittsburgh Penguins

Quick Cap: Pens slide continues with 3-2 loss to Kings

The Penguins surrendered the first two goals, then came back, only to lose 3-2 on a third-period goal by Drew Doughty.

It really wasn’t a well-played game, although it had some good spurts. The story of the game was this:

The Kings took seven penatlies, and the Penguins couldn’t get anything home on the power play. Meanwhile, the Kings went 1 for 3 on the power play.

The other story was this amazingly bad call on what looked like a sure game-tying goal from Brandon Sutter:

sutterno

Official Steve Kozari thought otherwise:

Such a troll move. The crowd at Consol was raging, but the Pens could not feed off of them.

Three things that sucked

3. Officiating

You can’t bag too hard on the refs, because that’s the way it is. The Penguins have gotten plenty of calls their way this season. Some of the penalties they called on the Kings weren’t even penalties. Tough night.

2. The Penguins’ power play

Gotta score in seven chances. Decent firepower on the ice still, but the power play looked flat.

1. Marcel Goc’s ankle Injury

Goc was playing well. Another injury… this looks bad
