As much as we want to bury the Capitals' season, they're not dead yet. They've still got like 17 games to make up maybe 5 points in the standings to get into the playoffs, so that's far from decided. The Pens, meanwhile, now have an 18-point lead in the Metro and are basically playing for eventual home-ice advantage in the East Finals if they can get there.
OUR THREE STARS
3. Lee Stempniak — The Pens have found an adequate replacement for Pascal Dupuis this season. His goals will come, and the first line has life again.
2. Penalty Kill — They had to come up big against the Caps' PP, this time killing 3 minutes and change in the third period, including another big kill down the homestretch.
1. Marc-Andre Fleury — He had to stay sharp in the first period when shots were few and far between. And then he held it down for the shutout.
