The Paul Martin Confidence Index reaches another level

So much emotion right now from Paul Martin. Not only is he scoring…

( Elite company there)

…but Martin is making little plays. For example, against the Caps he got a stick on an A.O. shot that may have been ticketed for the back of the net.

We've been using some advanced stats for the first time, and you can really see how comparable Paul Martin has been to the best years of his career:

One of our good friends and advanced-stats expert @felixpotvin explains:

To recap, in 2010 and 2011, Martin wasn't facing as good of competition (lower lines) and was possessing the puck in the offensive zone far more.

2012, Paul Martin was facing harder minutes and controlling the puck far more in the defensive zone. This cuurent season is much more on par with what Martin has done throughout his career.

But one thing advanced stats cannot track:

The Confidence Index.

That is unlimited right now.
