RECAP: Preseason Game 4: Tomas Vokoun’s blood clot overshadows everything

Yesterday's game was a mere footnote compared to Tomas Vokoun having a blood clot. [ Pg ]

More on what that means tomorrow.

Jokinen looks great on second line

— In a game where the Pens as a team didn't look great, the second line of Jokinen-Malkin-Neal looked really good.

–Jokinen put three home:

— Some really good breakouts on all of those goals. After seeing that is it even a question as to whether or not Jokinen should play with Malkin and Neal?

Dupuis on the left wing?

No idea why Dupuis was on the left wing but he looked really bad.

Harry Zolnierczyk almost gets killed

Too lazy to find video of it, but early in the first HZ went flying through the air and landed on his head. He was okay.

Other recaps

Empty Netters

Olli Maatta once again played a smart, safe game on the blue line. If and when he makes the  NHL, he's going to be a defenseman who plays a solid 25 minute a game and does everything correctly. He is mature beyond his years.

Penguins Sauce

Speaking of Dupuis, we still really like and want to see him play on that 3rd line with Sutter.  Dupuis is basically an overachieving 3rd liner that gets to play with Sidney Crosby.  But in 2 years when he’s 36, is he realistically going to be a top 6 guy?  Probably not.  But man, is he still great in his own zone.  His speed would fit well on the wing with Sutter, shutting guys down forever.  Plus, it would open up the opportunity to see Bennett playing with Crosby and Kunitz, which would make us super happy.  They care about our happiness, right?
