2013 PREVIEW: Atlantic Division

48 Games in 99 days.

18 of those 48 games are against the Atlantic Division.  That's 37.5% of the schedule.  It's gonna be a rumble in the jungle all season long.

Our preview and standings prediction after the jump.

Last season: 1st place in the Atlantic and Eastern Conference.  Lost to the DevLOLs in the Conference Finals.
Pens' record against them: 4-2. Penguins outscored the Rangers 20-12.
Biggest villain: Brad Richards: 6 points in 6 games last season.  His unrealistically white teeth remind us of the Uncanny Valley.
Prediction: Their acquisition of Rick Nash during the off-season is no joke.  My God.  The Rangers lost some talent, but Rick Nash will probably make them forget about that.  King Henrik is still between the pipes.  Their blue line is nothing to shrug at.  Torts got them to the Conference Finals last season, so it's easy to see what their next step is expected to be.  Easily the Pens' biggest threat in the division.
Don't get emo.  Predictions mean nothing.  Rangers have the belt.
Last season: 3rd place in the division, 5th in East.  Forgot the season isn't over if they beat the Pens, so they got tossed around like rag dolls by New Jersey in the second round.
Pens' record against them: 2-3-1. Outscored the Penguins 22-20.
Biggest villain: Claude Giroux.  8 points in 5 games.  Best player in the world.
Prediction: Even with the departure of Jagr and Van Riemsdyk, the Flyers still have names up front.  It's gonna be fun making fun of Luke Schenn all season.  No one else really stands out on their blue line.  The Flyers are married to Bryzgalov, so that's also gonna be fun to watch.  The Pens owe them a fall, and it will happen.
Last season: 4th place in the division, miracle run to the SCF.
Pens' record against them: 3-3, Pens outscored them 18-16
Biggest villain: Kovalchuk. 11 points in 6 games.
Prediction: We'd have to really go back and look at it, but we have no clue how the Devils made it to the Cup Finals.  Blue line was a big reason, come to think of it.  Matty is still between the pipes. The loss of Parise hurts.  They have a lot of young and unproven forward talent that has to step up in the regular season.
Last season: welp
Pens' record against them: 4-2. Outscored the Isles 23-15.
Biggest villain: Josh Bailey. 9 points in 6 games.
Prediction: When will the Isles finally make a move?  They are seriously a solid goalie and a couple D away from getting people talking.  Visnovsky has jobbed them on the blue line.  The loss of P.A. Parenteau probably stings a little, but they still have ridiculous speed.  Their coach sucks.
