Pittsburgh Penguins (33-10-0) @ Boston Bruins (26-11-5)
ROOT, NHLN-US, NESN+ – 12:30 pm/et
TD Garden – Boston, MA
The last few days have showed us what's really important in life, and it's not the outcome of a hockey game. However, it's nice that things are getting back to normal again and that the Bruins are back on the ice in Boston. It will be nice to watch hockey instead of 24-hour news coverage.
And this is a big game.
The Pittsburgh Penguins can clinch first in the East with a win. The Boston Bruins can move back up to second place if they win. Jarome Iginla will play in Boston for the first time since his failed trade to the Bruins. Jaromir Jagr faces the Penguins.
Just read this Days' of Y'Orr preview from yesterday.
Don't worry. We can all go back to cursing Boston again as soon as the puck drops.
Season Series: 2-0-0
Last meeting that counted: March 17, 2013. Penguins won 2-1.
What we said in our recap:
The Penguins are making the rest of the Eastern Conference look like a joke. They're winning high-scoring games, low-scoring games, and blowouts. They're winning games against the top teams and the bottom-dwellers.
They've now won 9 straight, a streak that started with the Brandon Sutter game up in Montreal. That was also the first game Mark Eaton dressed for. Since then, they are 7-0 with him in the lineup, 2-0 without him. Interestingly enough, both of those games were against the Leafs.
It was a flawless weekend minus one thing. It appears Kris Letang may have tweaked a groin late in the first period against the Bruins. His absence was well-documented in this one, as the Pens were on the ropes a few times in the second and third periods. But the rest of the D was huge, and the Pens added two more points to the bank.
Know Your Enemy: Days of Y'Orr
What they're saying:
Jack Edwards: Whoa, here we go! Things are about to pick up as Peter Chiarelli has apparently picked up Jaromir Jagr! Here we go!
Jagr walks into the ring, smiling, and shakes Chiarelli's hand.
Jaromir Jagr: I come to Boston because Pittsburgh is no longer City of Champions. Pittsburgh is a shithole, much like Mario was a shithead without me. I will take it to this team, I will show them – and Jarome – that Boston is the right choice to win a Stanley Cup.
The crowd cheers as Peter Chiarelli speaks once again.
Peter Chiarelli: The bWo is strong! The bWo will end this run of tyranny by Ray Shero and the Penguins World Order. This is our time and on April 19th, we will show the NHL – and by proxy the rest of the world – that the Penguins and Ray Shero are overrated!
On April 19th, the bWo will prove that we're back in action.
