Just when you think you've seen it all, something like what happened in the third period of the Penguins/Lightning game occurs.
To set the stage, the Lightning are on a powerplay. Steven Stamkos breaks the blade to his skate in the Penguins zone. Then, out of nowhere, one of the referees comes to the aid of Stamkos and pushes him almost 40 feet to the bench. The Lightning then enter the zone and score the game-tying goal.
Hard to believe this happened. ROOT Sports cameras caught it:
What makes this even worse is that Stamkos was replaced by Alex Killorn, and he scored the tying goal. Also, Paul Martin bumped Stamkos there, and that allowed Killorn to get behind him as he flew off the bench.
Overall, this would have been a major problem if the Lightning would have went on to win the game. They didn't, so it isn't really a big deal. But it is still kind of shady.
