RECAP: Malkin’s 5 points lead Pens to 2-0 start. PENS WIN.
GENO.  GENO.   GENO.   He is already in mid-season form.  5 points?  Unreal.  Also, looks like Paul Martin may be challenging Brooks Orpik for his spot on the top pair.

The game-changer in the first period was Brooks Orpik taking a vicious shot and being knocked out for the remainder of the period.  In came Paul Martin, and in the pucks went.   He triggered the passing display that led to Neal putting home the game's first goal.  Right off the ensuing face-off, Malkin and Crosby teamed up to make it 2-0.

MAF had to make some saves.  Crosby failed on a couple more breakaways.

Bing and Geno teamed up early in the second to make it 3-0.  But then Kris Letang made a stupid play and pinched.  He got knocked down, and the Wings headed the other way to bite into the Pens 3-0 lead.  Before you knew it, Datsyuk scored to make it 3-2, and buttholes clenched.

Emotional third period on the horizon.

Cue Geno.  He set up Crosby on a beautiful pass in the slot and then later hammered the final nail into the Wings' coffin on an amazing deke.  The Pens were up 5-2, and all that was left was the crying.

NEXT GAME: Pens host the Blue Jackets on Saturday.
